Today’s value: Craftsmanship

Caressing the perfect joint of 2 pieces of wood. Your beautiful new suit. The perfect piece of sushi.

Some people work with their hands, and that is a good thing. There are spaces where it is more obvious how it might take the proverbial 10.000 hours to achieve mastery. To become one with the tool and the material you are working with. One with life itself, sharing the fruits of your labor. Quite directly.

If you don’t love your craft it won’t love you back, and people will notice.

This also applies to more cerebral activities. What are the rules of your profession? How did you apprentice into it? What are the standards, the expectations?

When you cut corners, people notice and feel cheated. People recognize something well done and they sneer at something that isn’t. If this applies to your craft, you might take it personally when somebody doesn’t respect it.

What does craftsmanship mean where you are? What about your draft do you hold dearest? How do you keep evolving, learning, apprenticing others?
